  • Nothing. He alone can do nothing.

The majority of good, living wage paying jobs, jobs that propelled this country into prosperity in the last century were manufacturing jobs. Those jobs, are pretty much gone now. They have all been offshored, and many of the tech jobs that took their place during the 1990's have now been offshored. The only way to get these jobs back, is to change the government policies that reward businesses for offshoring/outsourcing, so that they no longer do that. That includes, changing the corporate tax structure (they get to write off a large portion of profits made from overseas subsidaries), the tax credits they receive, the write off they receive.. etc.etc.

And that's not going to happen. Big business has far to much powere and sway over our government at this point and time in history.

  • This trend began 30 years ago. And isn't going to change anytime soon.

For the past decade alone, the highest job growth has been in : service industry jobs and temp/contract jobs.
Service industry jobs are for the most part minimum wage (or slightly higher) jobs, with little to no benies, usually less than full time hours, with little change of growth/promotions into managment much less upper management.
Temp/Contract jobs, save companies billions a year. Because they do not have to cover benies, the tax structure is different. And they only have to keep an employee for a short amount of time. Time enough to do the job assigned and then the person is out looking for another job.

These practices have saved corporations/big business in this country BILLIONS of dollars a year. While the average hourly workers pay has been stagnent for over a decade.

The job situation. Isn't going to change anytime soon. IMO

  • Stop trying to do stuff. The more the federal govenrment mandates, taxes and regulates the more business are crippled and unable to hire.

  • The federal government can't create jobs. It can only work to create an environment that is job creation friendly. Everything his administration does is counter productive to job creation. The continue to do the same wrong things yet expect the different results. He just needs to step aside and let the experts work on this. The czars he has surrounded himself with aren't experts. Most of them are as inexperienced as he is in these matters. Get Steve Forbes, Stewart Varney, small businessmen, corporation CEO's to sit and work out a plan. At least they have economic experience and knowledge.

  • That's what people don't understand. Obama can't create jobs.
The community are the only people that can create jobs. You have to move money around the community in order to create a profit. One store has to buy from another store, who uses those materials to build for another store, who uses that building/product to enrich another store. Etc. You cannot expect the Government to create jobs, because that is 1. not their job and 3 impossible for them to do. The community has to create the profit, which creates the job market.

  • Obama is not a "God". He cannot wave his hand and jobs be available. There is nothing he can do, short of ordering (if even possible) that all outsourced jobs be returned to America.

  • Simple! Cut taxes. Put people's hard earned money in thier pockets now so that they may pursue thier dreams of having a business so they themselves can create jobs. It's the small businesses that create the jobs. People are full of ideas and hope to start thier own business. Most people want to work for themselves and hire people who need a job. The problem is the ability to keep that business afloat when there is a high rate of tax that needs to be paid to the government.

  • Stop outsourcing & Legalize marijuana. I also sort of agree with the resign answer.
