How do I wean my 8 month old if she doesn't like formula?

My daughter loves to eat food and only nurses 3 or 4 times a day. She hates the taste of formula and won't drink it. Anyone else had this problem or know what to do?

  • She wont let herself starve to death. So don't offer breast milk at all, or mix it with the formula and gradually do less and less until she eats only formula:)

  • Why not pump your own milk and freeze till she's ready? Breast milk is better than cow's milk any day!

  • i would say to pump, mix your pumped milk with formula and gradually put in less and less breastmilk. you shouldn't give cows milk until she's at least a year old.

  • As with everyone else, give an oz of formula in a bottle. Then change it oz by oz. Try not to be the one to feed her a bottle at the beginning too. They know where the milk source is LOL

  • If you wait a few months, at a year old she won't need formula at all.

  • She's already well to weaning. Why not leave things be?

  • Try adding a dab of stawberry syrup or chocolate syrup. Breastmilk is sweeter than formula so it may convince her to drink it if it were sweeter.
