  • It really may have. I wish you all the best, but that kind of abuse can really cause birth defects.

  • Lithium is known to cause birth defects of the heart. Hopefully you are seeking prenatal care now and are honest with the physician.

  • have u seen a doc yet? they will run the appropriate tests to check on the health of your baby. It is very important that you be as honest as possible when you see the doc so they know what to look for and give you an u/s to check babies progress. Those things can only show so much though, it won't be until after birth that you will know for sure if you LO is totally healthy. On a side note- lots of preg mothers do drugs on purpose.knowing they are preg- and for some reason some of those babies are born complication free. Some very cautious moms stay healthy and do everything poss. to ensure a healthy baby and their babies have problems. ayou didn't do it on purpose.Try to relax and stay healthy from now on. You may have aperfect baby. i hope so good luck

  • well that is good news about the lithium since you actually did not take it during the first trimester which is the biggest risk with that medication. It is good that you quit smoking and drinking. Just tell your physician your concerns and they may order some specific tests to test for problems or abnormalities with baby.

    Good luck!

  • I think the lithium would be the most dangerous. Make sure you tell your Dr. EVERYTHING so you can get the best healthcare possible. Good luck and I hope everything comes out fine.
