  • I believe if you have a resident green card you should be fine. If you have been here for 23 years, why don't you just apply for citizenship? Oh and then hire a lawyer and tell your soon to be ex-husband that if you wants to speak to you to do it through your attorney. Don't take any crap from him and then tell him he will be paying for that lawyer.

  • If you are here illegally, I hope to God so

  • are you a permanent resident? permanent residents would not be deported if they were divorced before obtaining citizenship. You having children here will also work in your favor if you are in this country legally. My best friend is originally from Romania and obtained her US citizenship 2 years ago. Although she was never in your situation, INS made it very clear to her & her husband at what points she could be deported if her paperwork wasn't correct, etc.
