9m old with a cold/fever, she's never been sick before not sure what to do?

Gave her tylenol for the second time in her life last night because she was just miserable, she's doing better today, it's just feverish and congestion. both i and SO have it so i know what she's feeling. is there anything else i should be doing for her? we're just nursing, snuggling and i'm keeping her warm. how often should i give tylenol? only if she's miserable again? at what temp? hmm. thanks.

  • For the congestion the baby saline works well, also a humidifier or steam up your bathroom real well with your shower. Tylenol should be given every 4 hours. My pedi says not to give it until its over 102. If the fever keeps hitting 102 you may want to call your pedi cause it could be an infection. And they dont need to be rushed to the er until the temp hits 105, or stays at 104 and you cant break it for 2 hours. If you need the tylenol dosage chart message me and i ll give it to you :) And lots of rest and snuggles. Oh, and when she is feverish, dont bundle her. Just keep her warm enough. Bundling will overheat her.

  • if she has a temp then just she should be in just a diaper. The whole sweating a fever thing is a myth and could cause more harm than good. If she is congested take her in the bathroom and turn the shower on hot and just stand in the bathroom, not in the shower of course, that way she can clear up a bit. Otherwise there isnt much else you can do.

  • i would just keep nursing and snuggling. i have never given my kids tylenol or anything like it. i don't think it is better for their health in the long run.

  • it's hard to not want to wrap her in a blanket when she's feeling icky. she's always teething she's a baby. but we are all sick in the household, so i know she's sick too,.
