Peeling Shallots?

I love shallots, but they are such a pain to peel. Does anyone have a trick to making it easier?

    Speedy peeling!
    To make peeling easier, carefully let the shallots steep in a bowl of recently boiled water for 10 minutes. The outer dry skin can then be rubbed off. If you’re planning to use them whole take care not to remove the inner skin, which holds the shallot together.
