MY 16 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER EMMA IS CONSTIPATED... NEED ADVICE

MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN CONSTIPATED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW, SHE IS ABLE TO RELEASE HER BOWELS BUT THEY ARE VERY HARD AND AT TIMES SHE BLEEDS. I SPOKE TO HER DOCTOR AND SHE SAYS THAT EMMA HAS A TEAR IN HER ANAL DUE TO HARD STOOLS. DOC SAYS WE SHOULD PUT HER ON MORE FIBER! BUT EASIER SAID THAN DONE... MY DAUGHTER IS A PICKY EATER..ESPECIALLY AT THIS AGE... I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING THAT WERE RECOMMENDED BY HER PEDIATRICIAN BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED EXCEPT MIRALAX. I HONESTLY DONT WANT HER TO DEPEND ON THAT ALL THE TIME.. WOULD PAPAYA HELP WITH CONSTIPATION? ANY OTHER FRUSTRATED MAMAS IN MY POSITION THAT CAN GIVE ME SOME ADVICE??? GREATLY APPRECIATED

  • Try the prunes that come individually wrapped. You can find them by the raisens. My 6 yr old has had bowel problems for years and he loves these. And they help. Good luck.

  • I give my dd baby food prunes. she loves to eat them with her spoon and probably just thinks its applesauce. I have found that helps things along quite well.

  • Peas, Pear and Peach are all natural stool softeners. Grape Juice helps a lot too (white grape to avoid stains). More hydration can help too...sometimes dehydration can cause hard stools...water/juice throughout the day. High fiber will get things moving, but won't necessarily soften the stool...prunes, prune juice, any fruit or vegetable are high in fiber. AVOID under ripe banana, cooked carrot.
