Big present for a toddler?

For Christmas this year I am getting the kids each a big present. I'm starting early this year so i can get them something nice. For my stepson I am getting him a netbook (around $225) and my oldest son I am getting the Lightning McQueen PowerWheels (around $229) But I am clueless as what to get my youngest.. He will be 18 months at Christmas time. Since he is so young I want to get something he wont grow out of quickly. Any ideas?

  • A Leap Pad? They aren't as expensive as the other gifts, but it's something that can grow with him.

  • A tricycle? One of the 3 wheel either real bike looking ones or plastic ones. It'll take a while to grow out of it. We gave one to Ki the christmas before her 2nd bday, she was about 20 months old. It was one of the plastic ones and she was able to ride it cofortable until age 4.

  • He might be able to use it in the winter... but what about a balance bike? We got one for my son for his birthday, it teaches them to balance on a 2 wheel bike so they are more ready for a big big later.
We have one like for my son
    http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Gear-Balance-Bike-Classic/dp/B001AIONOU
and then a nice bike helmet to wear
    Total it's about $100

    OR
if he's into Thomas... a BRIO table and thomas stuff would would cost around the same as what you are spending on the other kiddos.

  • Get him a STRIDER BALANCE BIKE!!!! They are only $100 & they will last him for years.. We got my dd one at age 3 & I wish I would have found out about them sooner, 1 bike can be rode between the ages of 1-5.. sometimes even older.. My dd prefers her strider bike over her "big girl" bike... Look them up on Youtube, check out there site... Amazing product! I would never buy a different brand of balance bike either :)

  • If he likes trains I would get him a train table. We got my son a train table for his 2nd birthday. We bought the Imaginarium table from Toys R Us. They put that table on sale every so often. We had family members buy my son the Thomas trains to go with it.
