Are you ready for Ramadan?

I have 2 days to make up of missed fasts, then I am ready. How about you?

  • YES! I believe I'm ready. This will be my first official Ramadan. I tried it with a few friends in high school during my world religions class. We didn't make it! Insha'Allah I will have a great Ramadan!

  • I'm not Muslim, but I know that you fast all month during the daylight hours, right? I'm curious what kinds of food you eat when you do eat. I have never been to the middle east or eaten the traditional foods.

  • We fast from sunrise to sunset for the entire month. We not only obstain from eating, we obstain from, how to put this delicately, lol, sexual relations, among other things, during those hours too. Once the sun has set, we can eat, drink and all that good stuff until dawn again. Generally, we wake up early and eat a large breakfast to get us through the day, then we the sunsets, some break the fast with dates, which is traditional, others with whatever they choose, pray and then have our evening meal. I guess it depends on where you are from what you would eat. There is such a wide variety.

  • Insha Allah we will both have a great Ramadan!! This is my second. Lonna is already "practicing" by not eating for a little while during the day. I told her she is too young. lol.

GinNTonic, you would be surprised, its not as hard as it sounds. The first few days are tough, but once you get past those, it gets easier.
