1 Bump

nursing a newborn and my nearly 4 year old wants to nurse again.

he just stopped at 2 1/2 weaned really on his own but now that his brother is here he wants to nurse again. I let him! When should he stop wanting to nurse????

  • don't let him. remind him he is a big boy and of all the things he can do that the baby can't. then ask him if he needs more mommy time.

  • Dark131, she may be ok with nursing a toddler.

    He may stop in a few weeks or months. Since he sees his little brother is getting something (and attention), and he is not, he wants it. Maybe you can create an activity, like reading him a book or singing a song, every time you nurse.

  • I'd express the milk for a 4 year old. If they liked it I would just express it for them everytime.

  • it's probably more the attention of it than anything. make sure you make special time for him everyday and he may stop.
