My 2 year old hurt his ankle, but is he faking a limp?

My son hurt his ankle this morning jumping off the couch, but he got over it after a few minutes. However, all day he's been walking with a funny limp. He is still climbing on everything, active as ever, and hasn't onced whined about his foot. I tried rotating his ankle, applying pressure - nothing, he didn't even flinch. So I'm thinking he may be faking this limp, for fun? Do 2 year olds do that? How long should I let him "limp" before I get it checked out?

  • I haven't seen this, and I don't know if a 2 year old would be focused enough to "remember" to fake his limp throughout the day. If he doesn't seem to be in pain, though, he's probably okay. I think if it was my son, I would probably wait until morning and if he's still walking funny, then take him to the doctor.

  • my son hurt himself as well, playing on the bed with dad. well he landed with leg backwards, so we think he hurt or pulled a muscle. he cried for a min then was up running again. we also pressed and moved all over his leg and he never acted like it hurt, so we let it go and he didnt act any diffrent just had a little limp. well for the last 3 days he still has a limp, but only when he wakes up from nap or sleep. so doc says its a strained muscle not to worry, it will heal on its own.
