How do I get the smell out of seashells from the ocean?

My mom gather up shells for my kids while she was in New Jersey. I would love to decorate their bathroom with the, But they stink so bad I can not take them out of the jar.

  • You can boil them, or soak in a weak bleach solution (1/4 c bleach to a gallon of water)

  • give a soak in some bleach water... not too long cause it can make them brittle or wash out any color (bleach is my fav for sand dollars)

  • Haha I brought a few bags of sea shells back from Florida last month and forgot all about them. I was wandering all over the house trying to figure out where the smell was coming from, finally figured out it was the shells. I put them in bleach water and now they are fine.
