"Woman Work"

I've got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I've got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
'Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You're all that I can call my own.

Maya Angelou

p.s. have a good day ladies

  • And another poem by William Ross Wallace - you may know the title of it as a movie ...

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is the Hand that Rules the World.

    Blessing on the hand of women! Angels guard its strength and grace, in the palace, cottage, hovel, oh, no matter where the place;
Would that never storms assailed it, rainbows ever gently curled; for the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.

Infancy's the tender fountain, power may with beauty flow, mother's first to guide the streamlets, from them souls unresting grow -- grow on for the good or evil, sunshine streamed or evil hurled; for the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.

Woman, how divine your mission here upon our natal sod! Keep, oh, keep the young heart open always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages are from mother-love impearled; for the hand that rock the cradle is the hand that rules
