  • It's recommended to take baby off the bottle by 1 year of age. (If you even use a bottle, that is.) Those silicone topped sippy cups mentioned above, I found to be great for transitioning. We started switching him to those a couple times a day starting at about 6 months. He was completely bottle broke before he turned 9 months.
I'm going to start the switch with my youngest sooner than 6 months, I think.

  • I started at 6 months, same time I started her with juice. I only gave her juice in a sippy cup so she wouldn't mind taking it, because you know, juice is super yumm! I had no problems getting off the bottle either.

  • My son started at about 5 months with the sippy, he has a bottle at night still but mainly as he needs that extra bit to get him thru the night, he's almost 1. All other drinks are in a sippy tho.

  • I breastfeed and she never really used bottles but I would say when ever she is pretty good at holding a bottle by herself and is drinking juice. It will take some time before she gets the hang of something new.
