Has anyone tried the Heart Association Diet?

I am thinking about trying the diet they often give to heart patients to help them drop weight before surgery. It looks really healthy for the most- any reviews?

  • I've never tried it. A good goal is to lose 2 lbs per week if you want to actually keep it off.

  • I don't follow a specific diet- but I do eat all heart healthy. Limit saturated fats, transfats, and sodium. There are some really good aha cookbooks at the library.

  • Yes, but I gained EVERY bit of it back. If you lose it the healthy eating and exercise way, you will be much more likely to keep it off. It is slower, but you will keep it off. I lost 50 pounds THIS way and have kept it off for 3 yrs.
