  • I answered this on another board--but it should be to create life long learners--those who can learn on their own. Life long readers. Kids that know how to think with clarity and thought. Kids who understand the politics of today because they have a good grasp of history--Modern and Ancient. To educate a child and not just school them--that should be the main goal. A good book is called Dumbing Us Down--John T.Gatto--a former NYC Teacher of the Year.
