How much do I pay the babysitter?

I used to babysit all the time when I was younger and last I remember, $10 was good...but obviously all prices go up. I have a five month old baby and am considering having a babysitter once in a while so I can get things done (single mom, I ALWAYS have my daughter with me); but I don't know what is the going rate these days, especially for if you could let me know how much you guys pay, that'd be great!

  • $10 an hour sounds perfect! Don't go too much higher than that. Good Luck!

  • well my daughter is also five months old and she goes to a babysitter every now and then we came upon an agreement that 15 dollars for nine hours was reasonable and thats only when the sitter has my daughter but anything ove 9 hrs is a dollar fifty more per hour i thought that sounded reasonable to me so i hope that helps

  • We pay $10 an hour for a CPR/ First Aid Certified Adult babysitter and $8 an hour for the high school girl that we use. It does depend on your area as well.
