What would you do (behavior/consequences)

DS (3.5 yrs old) asked me on friday morning if he could go to this kids concert he saw advertised on tv. We said okay but he has to take his naps on time for Friday, Sat, and today (the day of the concert). (Going for naptime without a hassle is something he doesn't do well). So, he did take his nap on Friday and Saturday, but today he is refusing. He is in his room, not sleeping, and we were supposed to leave for the concert an hour ago. We could still get there in time for the main act if we leave in the next 10 minutes. He would probably fall asleep in the car right away if we did go, and have about an hour to sleep in the car. So, do we do that after telling him that this was a requirement? Give him a different consequence, like early bedtime? Or do we not go, and waste our $25 tickets? Or do we tell him we're going without him and leave him with his grandad (probably very upset - maybe crying)?

  • Yikes!! . :( I would probably just take him anyways and explain to him that because this is a once in a while thing that you'll allow him to go despite his behavior and make him go to bed early for a week or something that you can stay consistant with. Like no tv for a couple days or something. If you cost you guys that much, just go. He may also just be far too excited to rest! :( Good Luck! if you go, hope you guys have fun!!

  • He did a good job for being only 3.5 for those two days. I would still take him. They don't really have a very good concept of time at that age and it is alot to expect for that age. I would go to the concert and remind him of what a good job he did those two days of taking a nap. If he would do it more often, you could do more fun things.
