  • Mary Magdalene was a disciple of Jesus, just not an Apostle (one of the 12).

ive always been told that it meant John...the author of the Gospel of John, as his book is the only book in the Bible to use the phrase "the disciple Jesus loved".

  • Yes I have always heard that it was John as well but some documentary that I saw stated that it could have also been Mary.

  • I do believe that Mary was a disciple but not an Apostle of Jesus. I don't know who they are referring to though it's all speculation.
