What is the best and safest way to clean carpets?

I heard using baking soda works but my son is allergic to that so can't use it. Also heard vinegar works too but I don't want my house to smell lol. Yes, I have used resolve but that is for spot cleaning mainly.

  • Vinegar....its smells for a short bit, but after that it just smells fresh! Like Owl said...as soon as it drys the vinegar smell is gone.
I use it as a freshener all the time.
