When did you start baby cereal?

Doctor said today my 4 month old son can start cereal now..but I remember starting my daughter when she was closer to 6 months. When did you start?

  • my dd was 5 and 1/2 months before she started cereal.

  • You are correct. The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends babies start cereal and other solids at 6 months.

  • 5 1/2 months....but we gave cereal like twice and skipped it. u dont have to start on that cereal stuff it isnt that good for them...

    here is a great site for starting foods...

    avocado is a really good starter food!

  • I started all three of my sons at about 3 months.& only rice cereal.If you don't have one, get yourself a cereal bottle.they are wonderful & really able to use.Hope this helps.

  • I actually started both of my children at about 3 to 4 months. I could never get the feeding bottle to work so I dared to use the spoon.

  • DS was formula fed so I was comfortable starting cereal at 4 1/2 months. DD was breast fed so I was more comfortable starting her at 7 months.

  • 3 months. My son started eating baby food(veggies) at 4 months... Our doctor gave us the go ahead for that.
