Do you or do you know someone that boils hamburgers?

They just form the hamburger meat to make the burgers and drop it right in a pot of boiling water.
I have a friend that does this and I've never ever seen anyone do this before nor have I ever heard of it.
My first thougth was .."ew"
Is this a common thing?

  • Just asked my mom about this. My grams did it because it didn't shrink as much. There were 12 kids so food had to go a long way.

  • I make a greek style chili, and I boil the hamburger meat, but I've never heard of anyone boiling hamburger patties? Maybe she does it for health reasons? I can't imagine them tasting good.

  • I did it for my dog when he had diarrhea. I wouldn't make it this way for people.
