What can I do with cured Salt Pork?

Its been in the deep freezer for about a month, woudl like to do somethign with it but dont know what. Any ideas?

  • Soup ,my family loves split pea soup.The secret is to throw lots of diced onions while the peas simmer with just enough water to boil. Then when mushy add skim milk stir till combined This keeps it from being watery mush.Add a dollop of real butter ,salt ,pepper at the end.I do it then because sometimes the pork has made it salty enough not to need more.My personal fave is to add cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to some bowls because not everyone in my family likes spicy.Serve it with garlic bread and salad.

  • Definitely a pot of beans. Any kind you like would be good. I tend to use pintos a lot.
