When did your baby start crawling?

My youngest is 7 months. She has never liked tummy time, and pretty much shows no interest in crawling. My oldest was crawling at this age, so that's the only experience I have. I just wanted to take a poll and see when other babies started crawling. If your baby never really crawled, when did they start walking?

  • My son started with the army crawl around 7 months and was full blown crawling shortly after. My daugher started crawling at 8 1/2 months.

You have to remember that milestones have wide ranges of "normal" and just because one baby crawls at 6 months doesn't make him any more normal than a baby that crawls at 10 months or a baby that never crawls at all!

Babies are all different and do things in their own time. I would be patient, since 7 months is still considered a bit on the early side for crawling. Put your baby on the floor alot, not even on the tummy but just sitting up with toys, that's the best you can do. Good luck!

  • All three of mine were different. It was always between 7 and 9 months. Don't stress over if your little one is not crawling yet. They all do things at their own pace. For walking my daughter walked the week after she turned 12 months old. My two sons walked at 13 months.

  • My son started crawling at 9 months. He's now 10 months, and close to walking.

  • Mine never really crawled. Kind of scooted around starting at 6 months. They walked holding on to stuff starting around 7-8 months. Walking on their own at 9 and 10 months.

  • My 8 month old dd started crawling about 7 1/2 months. She didn't like tummy time. I looked at my two boys baby books and one started crawiling at 5 1/2 months and the other started crawling at 6 1/2 months. So I guess every baby is different. Some babies never crawl they just go right to walking.

  • My son started crawling at six months old. He loved it. At nine months old he started walking. My daughter never really crawled. She laid down on her tummy and scooted her self. It was a half army crawl scoot thing. Rather funny to watch. She used her head, left arm, and right foot to push her self where ever she wanted to go. Lots of carpet rashes from it. She was six months old,but she didn't start walking until she was 14 months old.
