Any moms live in an intentional community?

My family is very interested in finding an intentional community to live and work in. Ideally, we would like to find something that is 100% self sustainable. Are there any moms who have experience living in these sorts of situations? If so, what was your experience like there, and would you recommend it to others?

  • It is essentially a commune or a kibbutz

  • DH and I have talked about moving to a kibbutz at times. But the ones we know of are run in a way that is very much "everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others." And the financial linking of everything we own was a very scary idea.

Right now we are considering a move to a moshav, which is similar to a kibbutz, but not as communal - you own your own land/house but everyone in the community works together for a greater good.
