Do you subscribe to your town's newspaper?

I will buy a paper every once in a while but I don't subscribe. I am thinking about it, because there have been several events that I have missed because they are only advertised in the paper. And had I not of just happened to buy a paper one day, I would not have known that they changed the school times this year. Anyways, I was just curious as to who subscribes to their town's newspapers.

  • NO, because everything is posted on their website for FREE!!! All I have to do is visit the newspapers website and read everything, including up coming events for FREE! Now, why should I pay for a paper copy when I can read everything online for FREE!

  • I do. It is a good way to find out what has happened and what is going on in the area.

  • No, I canceled all subscriptions when the economy went to hell. We had to cut back on a lot of things. I just read the news online for free!

  • I stopped buying the AJC because it's so darn small now and not worth the money. Most of what I would want to read is available online so there is no need to waste money or time subscribing or going to purchase it.

  • Our newspaper has an online edition but you have to pay for that as well. They do post a few articles for free but not all of them.

  • I guess ours is dumb in the fact they offer everything free on the website. My BIL is a reporter for the local paper. He knows the sales are down. He and I have talked in great lengths about how I find it dumb to order a paper when I can read everything online for free. He agrees w/me and has stated that the paper as discuss making the website a paid service as well. They know they people are not willing to pay for the paper when they can read it all online for free.

  • I used to, but it was not getting read. Sometimes we wouldn't even open it. I felt like it was a huge waste of money and paper. Plus, our paper is online, so if I really want to read it, I can just go to the website and read it.
