Asking a question for my gay friend regarding cali's change,

OK she wants to know if her and her s/o can go over there from az and get married then come back here to live? Or will it make the marriage null in void?

  • The marriage becomes null and void if you go out of the state where you were married into a state where is not legal, but this prop 8, might be the stepping stone for all the states to join.

  • IDK, I think it'll be recognized in CA, but not honored in AZ?

  • It's up to AZ to recognize it, so they'd have to check AZ law.

  • I gave you a bump, but not much help for your question. My guess would be it would not be valid, IF the state they are going to believes in gay marriages and the other state dont. Sorry I couldn't be any help to your friend!

  • It will not be recognized in any state that does not recognize gay marriage

  • Thanks I think so to. But a friend of hers got married in canada and came here it was null in void. So she doesn't want to waste her time. Thanks.

  • But its NOT like any other marriage. All other marriages are recognized in ALL 50 states. As I understand it the marriage is only legal in the state it's performed.
