Do you throw a big party for your child's birthday every year? or have a small family celebration?

We have a big family party with cousins, etc. usually, but sometimes as they get older we just have a cake with their grandparents and brothers and sisters.

  • Yes we invite family and friends. My mother never acknowledged my b-day so I think I go big to help make up for what I didn't have as a kid

  • We invited all the relatives for cake and ice cream to their first birthday. So far we haven't done anything but a family celebration for the other birthdays. Our oldest is only 4. The grandparents on one side usually come.

  • We combine the two youngest's parties (she's 9 and he's 2) because they're only a week apart, and I live about 25 miles from my family so they only have to make one trip. dh and I come from large families, so even just a "family" get together runs about 20-30 people. Our oldest turns 16 in september, he just wants cash and a cake and no big deal, so we usually just have us or maybe the grandparents over, but we do make him wear a birthday hat :-)

  • I agree, if you want to you should.
