Has your child ever been sedated?

Kyra is getting sedation for some dental work on the 10th of this month. She's been sedated before for heart surgeries, so we're familiar with the whole sedation thing. I'm wondering if it's the same basic thing for real surgeries and for fillings and crowns. If anyone knows? Or has some "good luck" wishes to pass this way? :-)
I'm a little more nervous now than I was when they were lasering off part of her heart, not sure why!

  • Oh this will be like a slice of cake compared to surgical sedation! :)

My youngest had to have surgery and was sedated and it was NUTS! I hated it and it was a HORRIBLE experience.

When my oldest had to get a crown, they gave her some laughing gas and such and she came out smiling and not hurting at all.

Everything will be fine, no worries mommy! :)

    Good luck!

  • My son was for a EEG when he was 6. i think for dental stuff, they give them the liquid stuff that gives them twilight sleep. Her heart surgeries would have been general where they control her breathing. Thats the gas and iv drug type.

  • They're doing the IV sedation at the hospital so she'll be totally out. :-(

  • Thanks!
She's a little nervous, actually asked me if we could go back to the heart doctor and have another tube put in her chest for a day instead of anything in her mouth. :-(
