Does the swamp need to be cleaned out?

Time:Ethics Watchdog Making Democrats Uncomfortable.
Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE), has rubbed many Democrats the wrong way now that two unprecedented ethics trials, of former Ways & Means chairman Charlie Rangel and senior Banking Committee Democrat Maxine Waters, are slated for just weeks ahead of the midterm elections. Democrats came into power promising to "clean out the swamp," as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi put it, and in some respects they have been true to their word; the committee has investigated more than 60 cases thus far, referring 12 to the Standards Committee for further review. But the airing of so much dirty laundry right before an election already fueled by anti-Washington fervor is about the last thing Democrats want right now....

  • The leadership in this country makes me want to vomit.

  • No, the swamp doesn't need to be cleaned, we need to implement policies and procedures that support transparency.

That way voters drain the swamp instead depending on politicians to do it for us.

  • People like Rangel are god like in their districts. They have been infused in the DC political arena so long, they head committees. Important Committees (See Rangel, Waters~most recent examples) They cannot be trusted, yet they are given free passes from the Speaker.... They are given free passes by their community...  When does it end?

  • The sad fact is that most voters are, at best, uninformed. They vote for the name on the ballot they recognize and consider political involvement watching the local news, or maybe cable news, every evening.

When leaders are freely & fairly elected you can only blame the people who elected them, unless the system is corrupt. I think we have both.

  • Sadly (but predictably), this is just one more of Nancy's 'out of context' statements. I am sure she meant to say 'only when it drains from the other side'.

  • She said that "she had drained the swamp in making sure the most sweeping ethics reform bill got passed and now it is up to the ethics committee implement the bill" yada, yada, yada...............while we all know she really meant she would get rid of any and all conservatives. She needs to get out her copy of 1984 and relearn the use of "double speak".
