Whats the best way to paint a wood headboard?

I have a wood twin headboard that I would like to paint white. I don't have the slightest as idea as to where to even begin. I don't want this to be a long process. Would buying a paint that has a primer in it be the better option or would spray painting a lacquer finish in white be just fine?

  • My Husband is a carpenter and he works with wood all day long. He said that you need to sand it down and then buy a paint with the primer in it. It should work just fine. Best of luck.

  • Lightly sand, throw a coat of adhesive primer on it and paint it with something durable like cabinet paint!

  • if its untreated you need a primer like KILZ. Use a semi gloss or gloss paint for easy cleaning. If its already painted or primed,it needs to be sanded 1st,then do the steps i mentioned.
