Can someone explain this?

The president does oppose same-sex marriage, but he supports equality for gay and lesbian couples

  • I had not heard this...quite surprising actually! Its all politics. He says whatever he has to say to be in the majority! He probably feels it a "middle of the road" approach. But really, it sounds like he is talking out both sides of his mouth to try to please both sides of the issue.

  • It's pretty simple really, he is opposed to it religiously but recognizes that it is a civil rights issue not a religious one and is keeping church and state separate.

  • He is only for it at election time so the gays will vote for democrats. He does talk out of both sides of his mouth a lot.
