  • My husband joined for several reasons:
    1 - Job security;
    2 - To gain a career that he could use for the rest of his life;
    3 - Financial stability; and
    4 - To proudly serve his country as his father did before him.

  • I joined for many reasons. I had an associate's degree, but there were no jobs, I needed to get out of the area that I lived in because it was a cesspool, education, benefits, etc. I think my husband joined for the same reason but he also wanted to make his dad proud of him. It was a good time, but my family needed me more. I stayed in for 12 years.
