  • I would go to a different dr office to get a 2nd opinion. Did the dr you went to do a blood test or a different test like you took at home. If all that fails go to the hospital and tell them your having abdominal pain and you think your pregnant and you are wondering if your having an eptopic pregnancy.

  • PP: not really a good use of Emergency Room time. I'd suggest going to the clinic. She'd have to wait hours in the ER while real emergencies were taken anyway.

  • My assumption is that the test that they have at your doctors office needs to have a higher amount of HCG in your urine before it will show positive. A lot of the times the doctors office tests requires you to have 100 miu's of hcg.. and the tests you take at home are a lot more sensitive, only needing 25 miu's of HCG. I would suggest waiting a week or so, and then go to a clinic and test again. Either that or request a blood test.. blood tests are always very very sensitive.
If youve had 3 HPT's that are all positive, and then continue to be. CONGRATULATIONS is in order.

  • Is your period also late? Wait another month and if your period is late, test again. It's easy to get a false positive at home using home tests if you're not using them properly. Next time you test, use one of the ones that shows words not lines.

  • If it is a blood test that they did you should find out if it was the kind that measures the HCG level and gives the Dr the exact numbers or if it just registers pregnant or not pregnant.
Qualitative hCG Pregnancy Blood Test – This gives a yes / no answer as to whether or not hCG is present. It is similar to a urine pregnancy test in as much as it recognizes the presence of hCG.

Quantitative hCG Pregnancy Blood Test- This is a more accurate test which calculates the exact amount of hCG in the blood sample this aids in the EDD – estimated due date.

Occasionally you can experience a false negative or false positive result this is usually because you may be taking medicines which contain hCG or that you have taken the pregnancy test too early.
