Can you still have "fun" with your husband if you are dilated?

I am a tad dilated and wasn't sure if we could still do our thing. lol. Does it increase risk of infection since there is no protection for the baby? Or does the bag of water serve that purpose. Thanks!

  • That is what the bag of water is for. If it weren't for doctors women wouldn't even know they are a "tad" dialated and wouldn't worry. Him "finishing" in you will also help labor along too. You can have sex as long as your "water" is still intact.

  • If you are not at risk for preterm labor it's fine. WIth or without the mucous plug. Even *in* labor.
You can have sex as long as the water isn't ruptured.

  • Sex is fine until water breaks.

  • It's fine until your water breaks; that's the point when infection becomes a risk whenever anything enters the vagina (even doctors' hands for vaginal exams). Many women have no idea when they start dilating, so it would be kind-of pointless to say not to have sex then.

  • I was a cm dilated and my dr encouraged me to have sex to bring on labor. Your bag of water will do a great job of protecting the baby.

  • Also, the doctors fingers are more prone to spreading infection then your husband's penis. Just to be sure have him take a shower first. :)
