Why do we sing "Rock a bye baby" to lull our little ones to sleep when the song is about putting your baby in a tree and letting the wind crash the cradle to the ground?

  • HUH? Ring around the Rosie isn't about burning witches miritrose, its about the rings around the pustules from the plague, and they put flowers in their pockets to cover up the smell, and of course ashes ashes,we all fall down!

  • Most of the classic nursery rhymes have a horrible story behind where they came from. We studied them in one of my education classes.

Ring around the rosy is horrible. We studied that ring around the Rosie was about the black plague and that ring around the rosie was the rash......that pocket full of posies...they thought that it protected them and covered the stench of death as well. Ashes Ashes...was the burning of bodies......We all fall down...everyone dies....horrible.

That was this books interpretation of where it came from.
