how do i take someone out of a nursing home so they can live with me?

do i need to have permission to take them out from the person that put him in the nursing home to begin with?

how does it work?

  • the person who is the power of attorney is normally the one who has say so with that person .talk to the social worker at the nursing home

  • if the person in a nursing home has the capacity to make that decision for themselves, they're free to leave at any time.

  • If the person that put them there has legal power of attorney/guardianship of the patient, then you do have to get permission.

  • its my husbands uncle and i'd imagine the person that put him in there is handling the bill but i dont want to know there whats fair is fair type of answer, just the rules and guidlines for it like the first poster

  • What's his injury or handicap that he's in there at 50? If its a case of where he's incapable of living alone so he's there voluntarily,you may be able to take him home,but like a PP said,you need to talk to the social worker.
