I am in my first trimester. I happened to inhale a lot of cigarette smoke yesterday while hanging out with friends who smoke. I am worried. Will inhaling smoke once during first trimester affect my baby? Please help.

My husband and I don't smoke.

  • Probably not but I would be careful to avoid smoke for now on since second hand smoke is just as bad as actually smoking.

  • No, you have nothing to worry about. It's constant exposure to second-had smoke that poses a risk to people's health, not occasional exposure.

  • You will be fine. People do worse things throughout their pregnancies and their babies come out just fine lol

  • Once in awhile is ok. like SWasson said, it's the constant or frequent exposure that is not good.
