I found a cell phone in a movie theater bathroom and have exhausted efforts to find its owner...what do I do next?

A Droid was left in an area where we were. We can not find its owner, we have called twice and asked in person if anyone who was there was looking for one. No one is.

Okay so now what do we do. It is a very expensive phone. Are we obligated to do anything more? Can the phone be used? Sold?

Thanks for the info.

  • No #'s in the phone you could call?

  • you should look in the contacts of the phone and call someone, possibly someone listed as mom or something like that, or just someone in the contacts and tell them you looker for the owner of this phone and then they can get in touch with them for you.
    ive done that before.

  • Have you tried calling the last number that called it? They would probably know who the number belongs to and then you could google their name and find a different number or address.

  • Call the contacts and inform them. If that doesn't help, take it to a cell phone store and ask them.

  • Take the phone back to the store for the carrier....IE - if it says Verizon....go to a Verizon store and turn it in. They can locate the owner, cancel the service on that particular phone etc. DO NOT SELL IT, DO NOT USE IT - That can get you PUT IN JAIL even if you "found it".

  • find out what service it is, which it's probably Verizon Wireless and take to the store. They'll figure out who's it belong to.

  • The phone has no power but we did look on the card. It has no charge, there is no identifying information that we can find on the phone. Can I find out by serial number or something with the carrier.

A rep told me they might just take it back and not find the owner and put it in refurb. I would like to find the OWNER...seems like a very nice phone.

  • Honestly you should have turned it in to the manger, if you couldn't trust the manger then you turn it into the police. They I'm sure would have the resources to know where the phone belongs too.

  • We went to the manager...we have been looking for this person for several weeks.

  • I would turn it into the police, they usually can find out who stuff like that belongs to. I lost my purse once, and the lady who found it turned it in to the police and they brought it right to my house.
