Can my baby start drinking milk?

She is just 2 weeks shy of her first birthday, can I just start giving her whole milk?

  • I gave my son whole milk when he turned 11 months cause I had to stop nursing him and I didn't do formula. My peditrician recommended giving it to him cause they need the fat and whatnot. So I'm sure your baby will be fine, just call your doctor if you want to be sure.

  • Have you tried her yet on whole milk? If not, I would try mixing it in with her cereal or breast/formula milk to make sure she isn't allergic.

I started my kids on whole milk at a year old. They did fine and are very healthy teenagers now.

  • I'm sure you can, but you don't have to. I didn't give my son milk until much later because I delayed everything and he was still breastfeeding... why give him cow's milk when he has milk especially made for him

  • I would recommend weaning from formula by mixing 4oz milk with 4oz formula for 1 week, then drop to 6oz/2oz and then straight to milk. It will help keep him from getting a upset tummy

  • phew... i misread your question.. LOL i thought you were going to give your 2 week old whole milk.. wow LOL good thing i reread that one.. i was brought up on whole milk from birth, and it led to lots of problems. But whole milk for a young toddler i think is ok... like a previous poster wrote, they need the fat...
