  • It was an initiative placed on the CA ballot in 2008 that if passed, would amend the CA State Constitution to redefine legal marriage as a union between a man and woman. It's main financing came from the Church of LDS and much of the funding came from OUT OF STATE contributors. This initiative was basically a group of folks who decided to ask to to have the State Constitution amended to reflect their own religious beliefs. The vote ended 51.4 % in favor. It has since been appealed and struck down as unconstitutional according to Amend 14 of the US Constitution.
