Would you have bought a wedding/shower gift?

So here is the situation - an old co-worker was invited to her previous place of work by another of my co-workers for a wedding shower. I was not invited to the wedding so I didn't bring a gift to the event. I did make a large fruit salad for the potluck shower. Would you have given a wrapped gift?

  • no if they weren't my friend why should I give them something? It seems like some people do that. Invite everyone and their dog just so they can get gifts. Your fruit salad was enough.

  • I would not have went period. But if I had to go I would not bring a gift because I was not invited to the wedding. That would tell me that this person did not think enough of me to invite me to both which would mean they don't mean enough to me to waste time buying them a gift.

  • Since you did go, a small gift would have been good.

  • YOU were invited to the shower but not the wedding??? I wouldn't have gone to the shower at all personally.

  • I think what you did was enough.

  • I should add the shower was held at our place of work and it would have been noticed if I didn't make an appearance.
