  • We use both and I love the small local bank so much better.

  • We use two banks. One I wouldn't say is national, but regional. The other is a local credit union. Our experience with the local credit union has been much more pleasant. We've decided to drop the other completely due to poor customer service but couldn't do it immediately because of direct deposits and auto pays. Next month though, then we'll stick to the credit union.

  • I use Navy Federal Credit Union, and frankly I've never had an issue out of it. No weird charges, no depositing issues. Very happy with my choice.

  • Credit Unions are better than banks. You are part owner. You get better customer service. better rates

  • Credit Unions and local banks have much better customer service. National banks are more accessible across the country.

  • We love our local bank, an affiliation of Chemical Bank. I love that we're on a first name basis with our favorite loan officers and can deal with REAL people.

  • Our small town bank was sold to a national bank, making it their branch. I like being able to cash checks or make deposits at another branch, but when it comes to any real business, I go to my own branch..."Where everybody knows your name." The other ones are just too cold!

  • We just switched from a National bank to a local bank. The local bank has better service lower fees, lower interest rates, higher interest rates on savings accounts, and it even pays interest on the checking accounts.

The national bank was everywhere though. Need an ATM there's one less than a mile away from you. Unfortunately they kept jacking us with fees ($3 a month for a savings account grossing less than $1 a year) so they lost our business.
