  • I re-taught myself how to crochet and knit at the age of 40.... Its a handy little hobby you can do anywhere (except on a plane) and can produce gifts to shock and impress your friends. I'm trying to use up cotton yarn, so I've been knitting spa towels and wash clothes, they will be gifts come Christmas.

  • Embrodiery onto towels, pillow cases, pieces of square material you can make into a blanket these you can take with you anywhere in a recycleable shopping bag then you have all your supplies all together. You can also do counted cross stitch, latch hook kits then you could make wall hangings out of them for presents & pillows also.
Crochet if you wnat to teach yourself how. Sewing making items for your familyor presents. Make cards Iike to make my own for Bdays, Christmas this can be a bit expensive to get started in though it'slike something you buy a bit at a time and all of a sudden you have a whole room full of stuff. You can get kits at the hobby store and make yard stones these make great gifts also. If I think of anything else I'll be back. Have fun!

Visit Michael's crafts store if you're into crafty type stuff. If not, maybe check out some books from the library on other hobbies, such as kite flying, sewing, quilting, decorating cakes, homes...
