how do i make air popped popcorn..with no popcorn maker??

i was told i can do it on the stove...but how????

  • 2TBSP oil (canola or vegetable) in a pot on medium heat. Put in 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels and put on a lid to the stove. They will start popping soon. Shake the pot on top of the burner so that the kernels don't burn. When the popping slows down remove from heat. Then put your melted butter or salt on it.

  • you can make popcorn on the stove, but it's not air popped, you need oil to make it.

    The jar of popcorn kernels should have the directions on it.

  • You can make oil free popped corn in your microwave with the proper container. You can pop normal popcorn in a stainless or heavy bottom pot on the stove using popcorn oil.

  • Put just enough oil in the bottom of the pan to cover it. Add popcorn kernels to cover the bottom in a single layer. Cover and cook over medium heat. When the corn starts popping, hold onto the lid and slide the pan back and forth over the burner so that the heat isn't concentrated in a few spots and burns the popcorn. When the pops get to where you can count 3 between them, that's a good sign that most of the popcorn has popped. You an either keep sliding the pan over the burner until you hear very few pops or you can remove from heat at that point, pour into a bowl, and add any desired toppings.

  • Do you have a microwave? Use a brown paper bag, for 2minutes 10 seconds (or get a microwave popper)

  • This is what I do when I get popcorn kernels instead of bags. I put a thin layer of kernels in the bottom of a paper bag, then pour a small amount of buttery popcorn oil or olive oil with salt over them. I fold down the top of the bag and stick it in the microwave and just listen for the popping to slow down.
