Why does the post office have a 30 limit on holding your mail while on vacation?

I mean,,,, come on!!!!!! 30 days is just not long enough for a vacation!

  • ??? If you plan to be gone for more than 30 days you need to have your first-class mail forwarded - the rest CAN be held for longer (different POs may have different "rules" on that - but normally forwarded mail isn't all always forwarded - by rule). DH works for the USPS, I asked him, this was his answer. (and the ??? was for 30 days not being long enough for a vacation...unless you're kidding about that.)

  • Not many people can take a 30 day vacation. And I'm sure they have space considerations.
