What are healthy fats?

I'm trying to add healthy fats that aren't dairy into my diet. I can't have dairy. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and I only have 7 more lbs to lose until I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight. Most women dream of that, right? Not me. 1 year after I had my DD I weighed 105 lbs, despite eating 4 meals daily and snacking. I was 10 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight at that point. I looked sick and everyone thought I had an eating disorder. Now, I'm even busier, working full time with TWO kids and breastfeeding. What is a good way to keep weight on and stop losing?

  • good fats can come from nuts, avocados, fish and olive oil. if you are worried about going underweight, be sure to count your calories...you may surprise yourself and find that you are not getting enough. especially for all you are doing!

  • omega fats which are from fish, most nut and fruit oils like sunflower and olive oils. basically you want more monoUNsatirated and polyUNsaturated fats and less saturated fats. these good fats come from those listed above.

  • You can also eat Avocados. They are high in the "good" fat!! Cut them up and spinkle salt on them and then lemon juice. Yummy!!!

  • DH gets a weigh gainer smoothie every morning: fruits, coconut milk, raw egg, flax seed or raw almonds... Blend it up.

Try to snack on nuts at least once a day.
