How can we expect everyone to accept gay marriages if our President doesn't?

With all of the gay marriage questions lately, seems like we are arguing with the wrong people. Don't you think we need the support of our President to support EVERY person, gay or straight, in this country?

How can we expect everyone to accept gay marriages if our President doesn't?

In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

  • Why do we have to listen to what someone believes in in order to decide for ourselves? We are our own person and the President shouldn't makes us decide our choice when it comes to issues.

  • You can't dictate tolerance on such a controversial issue. Many people are against it and not just on religious grounds.

  • I never heard or read OBama saying this. But just because he is chrisain and has those values doesnt mean he doesnt support everyone in this country. i am christain and I am all for gay/lesb rights and marriage.

  • He made it clear when he was campaigning he was anti gay marriage. I don't believe politicians should dictate what constitutes a family! Especially when politicians make it difficult for gay couples to adopt!
