Can I get in trouble for selling tickets that I got free from a contest?

they say complimentary on them. I feel bad for selling them but I am super broke.

  • I believe selling tickets for more than you got them for no matter what is scalping. In some states it is illegal.

  • Scalping is selling tickets for more than face value. So technically, if the tickets say complimentary, then selling them for money would be scalping. However, if you sold a t-shirt (or some other item) and they got the tickets for free as a gift with purchase- then it's not scalping, it's giving them away and selling a t-shirt! I know it sounds wrong - but it is a legitimate way around the law.

  • Yes, because it says complimentary ticket on them. A guy in my city was just arrested for selling complimentary tickets for a Reniesannce Faire. Be very careful.
