Teen Choice Awards - How can we bring reality back to our teens?

The 2010 Teen Choice awards nominate "reality shows" and "reality stars"
This years TV show nominees were:
The Hills
Jersey Shore
Keeping Up with the Kardashians
The Price of Beauty
Taking The Stage

We all know that kids watch this junk and idolize some of the stars, so it is no wonder why they give "awards" to these categories. However, do you think they should ignore this category so that is not honored in the eyes of kids? To think that the Kardashians won a TEEN CHOICE AWARD for "Choice TV: Female Reality/Variety Star" is a little scary!!!

  • Teach your kids better. Media does not control our lives or kids unless we allow it. Teach them what they see on tv is not always good. We are the bigger teachers in ours kids lives.

  • Sad isn't it? Kids have no idea what good role models look like.

    ______
    TURN OFF THE TV!

I have a little one only 3yo... but I do have a teen sister 13yo!
Some times... I am just in shock at the things my mother allows her to watch! There is this show on ABC family...she was watching it and I wasn't sure what it was so I sat down... 5 mins into watching it the kids are in a car and they are talking and one girl goes "so what, "something" a blow job gone bad!" My jaw dropped and I turned that shit off! No way would I let my kid watch that crap!

Kim blahblah is only famous for her SEX TAPE! A bunch of loud mouth guidos (and thats not me being offensive they call themselves that), Dumb sluts, and two people who might have talent? I am appalled that these people/nominees are considered "role models"... Sigh

  • Oh and Thunder to clarify....the "turn off the tv" is directed at the masses who think allowing that trash is ok.

  • 1 of my young adults has no TV at all- lives in a foreign country.

The other has no cable- not much to see on the Spanish or Chinese channel. They both have enjoyed the travel channel.

  • I have to agree to turn off the TV, or get rid of the cable/satellite since that seems to be where the worst of it is.
